I read Hal Dardick’s “Cook County no slouch when it comes to political corruption, report says” and it never says anything about John P. Daley. Moreover, Daley is not mentioned in the actual report — a lengthy document by the University of Illinois and the Better Government Association. Daley is not only one of the 17 Cook County Commissioners, he is the Chairman of the Finance Committee. He is the brother of Chicago Mayor Rich Daley. You get the point, no?
The point is that John Daley is powerful. I further argue that liberal media and liberal academia cover for liberals such as Daley, and their cries for reform are specious in the end. Andy Shaw and Dick Simpson are known liberal political fixtures. Their report with others who I do not know, chronicle a list of old stories of graft and dead politicians. It also exposes rank patronage of the late John Stroger and the lame duck Todd Stroger. It makes no mention of the enormous Daley Political Empire and the ongoing stealth work of the elusive powerbroker and insurance man to the cronies, John P. Daley. Daley is very alive, but we wouldn’t know it.
The only entity more corrupt than politicians are the cowardly media. Cook County taxpayers cannot rely on Chicago media types to learn what Finance Chair Daley is doing with their 3.5 billion dollars. Taxpayers better wake up and learn on their own.
