In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me -
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

Buchanan: Immigrants Not Voting Republican (Cites Cook County)

by Patrick J. Buchanan
“It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known.”
From “A Tale of Two Cities,” Sydney Carton’s words, as he rode the tumbrel to the guillotine, came to mind on reading the latest statistics on what open borders has done to a Republican Party that altruistically embraced it.
The Center for Immigration Studies reports that, since 1980, some 25.2 million immigrants have entered legally and been granted permanent status with “green cards” to work and become citizens.
“Immigration, Political Realignment and the Demise of Republican Political Prospects” is the title of the CIS report, which understates the crisis. Bottom line: The more immigrants in an electoral district, the more grim the GOP prospects. Consider a few of the largest counties in the nation.
Between 1980 and 2008, Los Angeles, No. 1, grew by 2.5 million to 10 million people. The immigrant share went from 22 percent to 41 percent. Over those decades, the GOP share of the presidential vote fell from 52 percent in Ronald Reagan’s rout of Jimmy Carter to 29 percent for John McCain.
Orange County, the bastion of Barry Goldwater conservatism, saw its population rise from 1.9 million in 1980 to 3.2 million in 2008, with the immigrant share rising from 13 percent to 34 percent. Reagan swept Orange County with 68 percent. McCain got 50 percent.
Consider Cook County, the nation’s second largest. While Cook grew by 350,000 from 1980 to 2008, the character of Chicago changed, with the immigrant share of the population rising from 12 percent to 25 percent. In those 28 years, the GOP share of the presidential vote fell from 40 percent to 23 percent.
In Kings County (Brooklyn), the immigrant share of the population rose from 24 percent to 44 percent and the Republican share of the presidential vote plummeted from 38 percent to 20 percent.
Richard Nixon and Reagan carried California seven times on presidential tickets. Both carried New York and Illinois in their greatest victories. Yet the GOP has not won one of those three pivotal states even once in the last five elections.
If California, New York and Illinois are moving out of reach for GOP presidential candidates and the party is being annihilated in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago, our three largest cities, what of red states Arizona, Texas and Florida?
They are going the same way.
Harris County, Texas, the nation’s third-largest, grew by 1.4 million since 1980. Its immigrant population tripled as a share of total population to 25 percent. Where Reagan carried Harris with 58 percent, McCain lost it with 49 percent.
Dallas County added a million people to hit 2.5 million by 2008, as its immigrant population surged from 5 percent to 27 percent. Where Reagan won 59 percent of Dallas County, McCain got only 42 percent.
Phoenix is sited in the fourth-most-populous county, Maricopa. Its population in 30 years has gone from 1.5 million to 3.8 million. Where 5.5 percent of Maricopa was immigrant in 1980, the percentage is now above 15 percent. And where Reagan carried Maricopa with 65 percent, McCain, an Arizonan, carried Maricopa with only 54 percent.
In Dade (Miami), the immigrant share of the population has gone in 30 years from 36 percent to 58 percent and the GOP share of the vote has fallen from 60 percent to 42 percent. In Broward (Ft. Lauderdale), legal immigrants tripled as a share of the population, while the GOP presidential vote fell from 56 percent to 32 percent.
The correlation seems absolute. The more immigrants who come in and become citizens, the more Democratic the country becomes.
Why? Almost all immigrants, legal and illegal, are poorer and less skilled than Americans, and depend far more upon government.
According to CIS, of recent immigrants who became citizens by 2008, by 55-30 they identified as Democrats. Among immigrants who have not yet become citizens, 70 percent identify as Democrats, 15 percent as Republicans. The sooner Democrats get them naturalized, registered and voting, the sooner the bell tolls for the Grand Old Party.
Is the GOP problem its hard line on illegal immigration?
This is a myth. According to a Zogby survey done for CIS, 56 percent of Hispanics and 68 percent of African-Americans say legal immigration is too high. Only 7 percent of Hispanics and 4 percent of African-Americans say it’s too low. On no issue is the gulf between elites and the people so wide and deep.
What would be a GOP policy that advanced both the national and party interest?
First, an offensive against the administration for laxity in enforcing our immigration laws against businesses that hire illegals. Each time a business is forced to let illegal workers go, the jobs go to some of our 25 million unemployed and underemployed.
Second, a Put-Americans-First moratorium on legal immigration until U.S. unemployment falls below 6 percent.
And what is Republican Lindsay Graham up to? Collaborating with Sen. Chuck Schumer on a path to citizenship for illegal aliens.
The Sydney Carton Party at work.

Obama File 97 Obama and the Weissbourds – Was There a Frank Marshall Davis Connection?
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2010/02/obama-file-97-obama-and-weissbourds-was.html
Obama file 96 here
Barack Obama has received the help of socialists and communists at every step of his political career – right back to his boyhood days in Hawaii, where he was mentored by the communist poet, Frank Marshall Davis.
Frank Marshall Davis, who was not a native of Hawaii, began his radical career in Chicago.
In 1985 Obama left New York for Chicago to work as a “community organizer”.
There is evidence that Obama was supported in his Chicago career, by people with ties to Frank Marshall Davis.
Chicago journalist Vernon Jarrett who was the father-in-law of senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, promoted Obama’s career through his newspaper columns. In the late 1940s he worked with Davis on the publicity committee of a communist controlled organization-the Citizen’s Committee to Aid Packing House Workers.
Earl Durham worked with Frank Marshall Davis in the Chicago Communist Party run Abraham Lincoln School for Social Sciences.
In the mid 1990s Earl Durham and Obama helped establish the radical dominated Community Organizing and Family Issues organization.
This post looks at a third possible connection between the Frank Marshall Davis networks of the 1940s and the Obama movement of today.
Also teaching at Abraham Lincoln School for Social Sciences with Davis and Durham, was a woman named Bernice Targ.
I believe that Bernice Targ may be Bernice Targ Weissbourd, a well known Chicago activist and philanthropist. Born in 1923, she is certainly of the right age group and political inclination.
In March 2009 Bernice Targ Weissbourd attended an 85th birthday tribute dinner for retired radical physician Quentin Young.
According to the event program;
Quentin began his activist life in the 1930s, as a teen, fighting fascism with his friend Bernice Weissbourd.
Quentin Young was a member of the Young Communist League in those days, so it is very likely that Bernice Targ was also a comrade.
After WW2 Quentin Young was an activist doctor and according to the House Un-American Activities Committee, was also a member of the Bethune Club of the Communist Party USA.
In the early 1970s, many Chicago communists left the party and linked up with ex Students for a Democratic Society militants to create the Gramscian socialist, New American Movement (NAM).
Quentin Young and his wife Ruth both supported NAM. When NAM and the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee and NAM combined to form Democratic Socialists of America in 1982, Quentin Young joined the new organization.
Young went on to meet, treat and mentor over many years, an ambitious young Chicago lawyer/activist named Barack Obama.
Meanwhile, Bernice Targ had married a young chemist-turned lawyer named Bernard Weissbourd.
As a chemist, Bernard Weissbourd had worked on the Manhattan Project to develop the Atomic Bomb and had contributed towards the discovery of Plutonium.
After the War, Bernard Weissbourd studied law and practiced as a lawyer for several years before becoming one of America’s leading commercial property developers.
Despite his business success, Bernard Weissbourd was a man of the left. During the Civil Rights era he held meetings of the radical Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee in his backyard.
In 1983, Bernard Weissbourd served on the transition team of Chicago’s DSA/Communist Party backed Mayor Harold Washington – alongside Quentin Young.
This was the year Obama first moved to Chicago, where he states that he was inspired by the victory of Mayor Washington.
In 1992, Quentin Young, Ruth Young and Bernice Weissbourd were all members of the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights – probably the most successful Communist Party USA front ever. Earl Durham was also close to the organization in the late 1980s.
By that time the Committee was dominated by Democratic Socialists of America activists and members of the Committees of Correspondence, who had split from the Communist Party in 1991.
Besides Quentin Young, several leaders of the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights including Timuel Black, Saul Mendelson and Rabbi Arnold Jacob Wolf joined the Democratic Socialists of America and later became friends and supporters of Barack Obama.
In 2005 several of Obama’s friends, colleagues and mentors including Earl Durham, Bernice Weissbourd, Quentin Young, Timuel Black, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Rev. Doctor Michael Pfegler, Alice Palmer, Abner Mikva and Leon Despres gathered together in the Chicago Area Friends of the Students Non Violent Coordinating Committee, to commemorate the Civil rights movement of the 1960s.
Clearly, Bernice Targ Weissbourd knows Earl Durham well. Did she know him at the Communist Party’s Abraham Lincoln School, with Frank Marshall Davis?
The direct Weissbourd/Obama connection comes through Bernard and Bernice’s son, Chicago lawyer/businessman/activist Robert M. Weissbourd.
Like his wealthy parents, Robert Weissbourd has not let his commercial success dim his “social conscience”.
Robert Weissbourd founded RW Ventures, LLC in 2000. He had previously served for ten years in executive positions at Shorebank Corporation, where he worked “to strengthen Chicago neighborhoods by investing in entrepreneurs, real estate and community organizations, and to help market institutions understand the benefits of returning to the inner city”.
Before joining Shorebank, Weissbourd was a partner at Hartunian, Futterman & Howard, specializing in “federal constitutional and class action litigation, school desegregation and representation of government and non-profit agencies
In 1981, Robert Weissbourd helped found the Chicago based Crossroads Fund, with socialists including Jean Hardisty and Rona Stamm.
Crossroads is a major funder of the Chicago left and has been supported by a veritable who’s who of Windy City radicals from Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn to the current US president.
In the late 1980s, Weissbourd was a board member of the Progressive Chicago Area Network (PROCAN) , alongside several prominent Democratic Socialists of America members, including current Illinois Congressman Danny K. Davis, Roberta Lynch and Dr Ron Sable, and DSA honoree and Obama’s Hyde Park next-door-neighbor, Jackie Grimshaw.
Later Grimshaw and Weissbourd were both board members of the Center for Neighborhood Technology, a Chicago based Environmental group.
Over A Two-Year Period In The U.S. Senate, Barack Obama Requested $3.2 Million in earmarks for the Center For Neighborhood Technology. Executives and board members of the Center For Neighborhood Technology later contributed $20,688 to Obama’s campaigns.
During the presidential campaign, Robert Weissbourd served as Chair of Obama for America’s Urban and Metropolitan Policy Committee. Also involved with this committee was Harry C. Boyte, a veteran of the New American Movement and Democratic Socialists of America.
In 2009, Weissbourd also served on the Obama Transition Department of Housing and Urban Development Agency Review Team.
According to RBO, Robert Weissbourd was not only an Obama bundler committed to raising a minimum of $50,000, but he also contributed significant funds to Obama’s campaigns from his own bank account: $3600 in 2007 to Obama for America and $29,373 to the Obama Victory Fund (thereby achieving Mega-Donor Status in 2008); $5000 in 2005 to help launch Obama’s Hopefund Inc., with another $5000 in 2006 and $9113 in 2003-2004 to Obama for Illinois for Obama’s U.S. senatorial campaign
That Barack Obama worked closely with Chicago communists and socialists, is beyond doubt.
That some of these activists were directly linked to Obama’s Hawaiian boyhood mentor Frank Marshall Davis is also becoming increasingly clear.
This raises several questions.
Did Obama come to Chicago, because Davis’ old friends could help him?
Did Obama seek these networks out, fall into them by accident, or did he arrive with a list of introductions?
When was Obama first marked out for high office? Was it only in 2004? Was it early in his Chicago days? Even earlier in the piece?
Are the answers to these questions important to you?

There is a school of thoughts that Obama is Frank’s son, the older Barack being only the front “daddy”.
There are certain pictures of Obama’s mom, in compromising positions, in what seems to be Frank’s house.
At the same time Frank was known to be a pedophile and a very promiscuous man.
And a family friend of the Dunhams.
Just saying…

These 3 crypto-Marxists used Rich Daley. They leveraged all the crooked ways that Daley used to attain office and power, against him to take over our country. Rich Daley was a “useful idiot” to these 3 autocrats.
Our U.S.A. is being hijacked through Chicago-Illinois politics by Chicago-style dishonesty and nefarious Chicago-style bribing, bullying and lying.
It’s important to know what a “useful idiot” is. A useful idiot such as Daley, is a person who is an idiot but can be used, exploited and manipulated by deceit to usefully promote the goal of the one exercising the deceit. A useful idiot is gullible and in many ways a moron.
To be clear, in some instances a “useful idiot” might not have a criminal mindset, but this is certainly not the case with Daley who is crooked, selfishly addicted to power and is tickled being called “mayor”, and extremely criminally-minded. Rich is the perfect “useful idiot”, in that he is so void of any conscience or guilt of being a traitor and selling out his nation in exchange for being known as “mayor”.
The term “useful idiot” is loosely attributed to Vladimir Lenin who is believed to have used it to describe American liberals who were sympathetic to the Soviets and communists and would actually promote policies of the Soviet Union in the West.
Moreover it’s important and instructive to know that the “useful idiot” is held in contempt by the nefarious conmen exercising their deceit. The Americans who were sympathizers to the Soviets were extremely naïve and they were despised by the communists. Similarly, Axelrod and Emanuel despised Daley’s private life-style because he was not radical enough. However, they took him for a ride, and the treasonous Daley went willingly and knowingly for that extreme leftward ride.
When Daley first became mayor by bullying and fast talk and lying, it was David Axelrod who was there with him to train him and hold his hand and walk him through m-e-d-i-a. Do NOT EVER forget the power and influence of media by the way. When Rahm Emanuel needed a United States congressional seat in 2002 after working in the Clinton White House as a ruthless and brutal enforcer, it was Daley’s brother John Daley who led a Chicago patronage group (the 11th Ward) to knock on doors and quietly elect sneaky Rahm to our House!
The Daleys sold America out for power…for power and money. The Daleys are useful idiots. We are responsible for not having stopped them. We are responsible for stopping them. We are responsible for our country. May our informed consciences be our guide.
As our United States leans heavily towards tyranny, the Chicago liberal democrat party elites who gave us Emanuel,Obama and Axelrod, continue to enjoy the imprimatur of Chicago Catholics and Cardinal George.
Moreover, the 3 aforesaid politicians pushing socialism (tyranny) continue to enjoy the Cardinal’s support. These 3 guys (& thus the entire movement of LIBERALISM) enjoy the support of the Cardinal and the USCCB regarding their fraudulent GOVERNMENT healthcare takeover. – Carl Segvich

Personal Aside: George’s USCCB Statement Ignores Free Market Alternatives to Health Care.
Posted: 17 Mar 2010 05:11 AM PDT
Feast of St. Patrick*
What’s there about the whiff of statism that Cardinal Francis George and the USCCB [United States Conference of Catholic Bishops] love despite all evidence to the contrary? ObamaCare, he and they view as complementary to the goals of social justice with one exception: its failure to include the Hyde amendment. All the other social entitlements are bankrupt: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. The Catholic aim of social justice, they aver, is indissolubly tied to taxpayer funding. But the Church doesn’t teach that at all.
Social Justice, it has taught since Augustine and Aquinas, is the virtue that inclines one to cooperate with others in order to make institutions of society better serve the common good. The central obligation of social justice falls on the individual—but man can’t do it alone. He must work with others, through organized bodies to identify the needs of society and by use of appropriate means meet those needs first locally, then regionally, then nationally and even globally. Where does government come into play? Answer: it didn’t with Augustine or Aquinas.
It can but to read Cardinal George’s statement, government seems to be all there is.
Look at The Chicago Daily Observer website www.cdobs.com and scroll back to yesterday and you’ll get the entire draft of George’s USCCB statement vetoing ObamaCare signed by George. My goodness, reading it you’ll think that if only the Hyde amendment language were included in the Senate draft, the bishops would rush to embrace it, tossing their miters in the air and fanning the air with their crosiers. That’s true. They’re like the Upper East Side of Manhattan Maoists of the `60s…they bleed oh how they bleed for the working man (er, working person). How much more should government do?
But that’s not all of them. Just the fashionable liberal old duffers like George, 73, who went to pre-divinity school since age 14, then seminary…then into the clergy, scaled the bishopric and whose hands are soft as a woman’s, knowing poverty and the class struggle first hand, from reading Msgr. John Ryan [1865-1945] and his doctoral dissertation Redistributive Justice and the Living Wage. They feel oh-so-strongly about ObamaCare. If only the Hyde language were incorporated!
Never fear. That old gang of bishops is fast fading—just like the old priests of Andy Greeley’s vintage (my contemporaries) are. George has two more years here and his resignation will be proffered. He’s a good liturgist, though; has generally book-smart education with Ph.Ds in philosophy and theology. But does he know anything about The Squid, the grind to pass health care? Forget it.
. Never having worked a day in the private sector and nurtured in the then hot-house seminaries sheltered from the world, George and his vintage haven’t a clue in the world. His statement for the USCCB shows it.
Not a mention of the many alternative free market concepts that deliver affordable health care from such distinguished Catholic laymen conservatives at Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
It’s brimful of circa `60s language. “The Catholic bishops of the United States have consistently advocated for the reform of the…health care system.[It’s taxpayer-paid government reform they “anguish” about, people].
“Their experience in health care and in Catholic parishes has acquainted them with the anguish of mothers who are unable to afford prenatal care, of families unable to ensure quality care for their children, and of those who cannot obtain insurance because of preexisting conditions.” [Sympathy from those who abdicated their charitable impulse to lobby for state funds].
Of course George has not the slightest glimmer of what it means to build up alternative means to statism…a statism that would place 1/6th of the economy in irons. He’s a good liturgist, a fairly conservative philosopher, with Ph.Ds in both.
Where would he learn it? Does he know economics? No. The money comes in; he spends it—or has someone else spend it. Where would he learn about economics or hard times? Living in a communitarian cocoon like the Oblates of Mary Immaculate since age 22, his only touch with the real world…now there’s a laugh…was when he first met…guess who?
Jack Egan.
When he was installed as Chicago’s 8th archbishop and was surrounded by people at the reception, George was asked by the late Tim Unsworth, a writer for the lefty National Catholic Reporter what he derived from the swirl of people who congratulated George.
“Very good!’ he said. “I got to meet Jack Egan!”
And in the boilerplate of George’s statement that either he or someone wrote for him, the spirit of the hotly anti-capitalist, scotch-drinking, grizzled old Msgr. Jack Egan [1917-2001] rides once again…fresh from the echoes of yesteryear which George absorbed by reading Msgr. John Ryan [1865-1945] and his masterful doctoral dissertation Redistributive Justice and The Living Wage….here was the real thing!
The socialist-leaning buddy of Saul Alinsky and Studs Terkel who talked a brilliant social justice game but never never experienced poverty or faced profit-making enterprise…since he was kept out of the Depression as a Quigley kid, then a seminarian (where his closest touch was reading Msgr. John Ryan), through World War II where he was deferred—the only experience he had was imagining the experiences others had. In the civil rights days he was a marcher some times locally but always made it back to the rectory’s warm meals after dark. His great avocation was sipping Chivas at Cliff Dwellers and talking about the mythic days of sweatshops and child labor mills he never knew but only read of.
One day when Andrew Young was in Chicago…Young, the top aide to Martin Luther King and a friend of mine about whom I wrote and produced a film documentary…I invited Jack to attend a reception for him. Suddenly when the gaggle of conversation died, Jack after sipping steadily, became his lachrymose self…declaring to Young “you and I marched at Selma together and when a big cop tried to slug me, you interfered with him and saved my life!”
Touching. Very touching. Many dabbed at their eyes along with old Jack. Later on after the party Young tapped my shoulder and asked: “Who WAS that?”
Just a vicarious activist, I said. Oh, he said.
“I got to meet Jack Egan!”
I guess it was a thrill if you’re a smallish balding ex-university professor taking over administration of one of the nation’s biggest archdioceses.
John McDermott who in his latter years was an office-mate of mine at 307 N. Michigan often said: “We…Al Raby and a bunch of others and I…marched with King in Cicero and there was Jack. Then the cops came rushing out and there wasn’t Jack. We all went to jail and in our cells somebody had a radio and played the ongoing testimony of Jack Egan before a City Council committee—testifying before a battery of cameras. We were so proud of Jack. And later his secretary Peggy Roach sent us some cookies.”
Oh well. Never fear. The old gang of bishops…most younger than I…are fading fast along with their lamentable 1960s pop sociology. They and their fashionable “social justice” radicalism: sort of like the coterie of Upper East Side of Manhattan Lenny Bernstein-like radicals are soon to be of the past. George has two more years and his resignation will be proffered. He’s a good liturgist, though, has a book-smart education with two doctorates—in philosophy and theology. Not his fault that he’s been spoiled by being hailed the smartest man in the room.
Yeah but to which I’d add he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.
Then maybe…God willing…we can dismantle that 1960s vintage liberal church-state octopus whose tentacles cling to a state liberalism that should never be invoked…to be replaced by nothing:: no organization, no marble palace in Washington, no courtiers writing tracts on environmentalism. Replaced as I repeat by nothing. Leaving only individual bishops acting in their dioceses where they take the spiritual and intellectual treasures of the Church to promote the common good not only in small groups but literally of all humanity.
Despicable(Tragic) Catholic “leaders’”decision painfully continues

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ track record for liberalism is intact
3/7/2010 6:19:00 PM
By Mary Ann Kreitzer -lesfemmes-thetruth.blogspot.com
Apparently the U.S. bishops’ conference has learned little or nothing from the recent scandals over the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and other issues promoting Democratic party politics. And now the bishops’ mouthpiece announces they will support the health care bill if….
What’s the if? According to Politico, “The Roman Catholic bishops signaled Thursday that if agreement is reached with House leaders on anti-abortion language, the church would work to get the votes needed to protect the provisions in the Senate – and thereby advance the shared goal with Democrats of health care reform.”
So let’s get this straight. The federal government by this bill will take over about 18% of the U.S. economy. The bill mandates all kinds of draconian rules that affect doctors’ relationships with their patients and limits the freedom of Americans with regard to choosing their own health care. It threatens seniors who will not be protected by abortion provisions. It will certainly be more expensive and require higher taxes.
If that’s not enough reason for concern, the bill directly violates the Catholic principle of subsidiarity and is one more giant step toward socialism.
So the USSCB’s reputation for being totally committed to the Democratic party continues. They gave us the Obama administration and have diverted massive amounts of money to aid and abet the culture of death. This latest position on health care is completely consistent. Abortion is not the only bad element in the bill and the Church should be actively working to make sure that health care is dealt with at the lowest level possible. Federal government takeovers of every element of our lives is not a Catholic principle!
Michele Bachmann, Congresswoman from Minnesota, has spoken very articulately against the health care legislation and promoted better options that leave the people, not the federal government, in control.

Good news: Cook County government with OUR 3.5 billion dollars, says it will now become more “participatory”.
Bad news: They said it will be online only “AS IT IS MADE AVAILABE” which means nothing; it means they will say it is unavailable. You know…”we are looking into it.”
” The Open County Initiative site is a part of Cook County’s pledge to provide the residents of the county with a more transparent and accountable government. This site provides easy access to areas of information, records and data transparency throughout the county. Additional information will be included as it is made available online. ”

They know they are still off our radar.
They have OUR money.
